Microsoft uses many different types of direct marketing, they use internet marketing mainly, which is also referred to as digital marketing. This is the main type that they use as it is the least expensive but is also becoming the most effective. Digital marketing is promoting products on the internet as this generates traffic which can often lead to new business. They also use social media marketing which is likely to become the most effective form of marketing in the next decade. The other forms that are becoming less effective but still generate some business include display adverts, email and text message marketing, experimental marketing, and they often still send mail directly to people’s homes.
